This was a portrait study that underwent a lot of iterations. And finally - voila! The Pearl Queen.

    The stones are quite expressive, but I think you're missing some of the shadows and that leads to a flat image feeling at first sight.

    i really like the "flat" look, which brings more illustrative draw to the painting. almost feel the structure of the pencil on paper. Nicely put indeed!
